フィンランドでは公的医療機関として地区ごとに医療センターが整備されています。その上に総合病院や大学病院などがあり、必要に応じて医療センターから順次紹介されることになります。しかしながら地区の医療センターは患者が殺到するため、受診までに数時間を要することが多々あり、中流階級以上は割高ではありますが、予約制で待ち時間の少ない私立病院を使う傾向にあります。英語はどの医療機関でも通じます。
